We have a large group of new members enrolled in the leadership training beginning April 22nd. We are looking for volunteers to be New Member Buddy’s. A New Member Buddy is a member of the chapter who has agreed to be a point of contact for a new climate leader and who can provide informal guidance and encouragement during their first few months of joining the chapter. Experience shows that getting them involved in an area of responsibility with the chapter provides the best chance of keeping them active and engaged. It can really make a difference in a successful induction of them as a volunteer climate activist.
The role of the buddy is to provide informal support and guidance to a newly trained climate leader and member of the chapter including:
Contacting them by email/text or phone call on a periodic basis
Learning about their interests and reasons for becoming climate leaders
Finding out which working group is best aligned to their interests and helping them to get involved
Encourage them to start a new working group if there is not one which aligns with their interest
Updating the New Member Buddy spreadsheet with notes on your interactions
It is anticipated that each New Member Buddy will have five people assigned to them.
Please contact Karen Dyer at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
